The new BNSF "Swoosh" or "Wedge" paintscheme is remeniscent of the older Heritage schemes, while still having a modern feel with the orange-on-black coloration and stylized new logo. BNSF #6742 is a recent repaint, with an ex-santa fe lineage, thus having the "comfort cab" with the roof mounted Air Conditioner, nose headlights, and rear mounted airhorn. |

The Santa Fe (and the later repainted BNSF) SD40-2 Mid Production units had a variety of features to make their use more comfortable for the engineers. Among them were the rear mounted airhorn, nose headlight (for lessened glare), and air conditioning unit installed over the cab. |

Alternating ditch lights aren't for everybody; the HO SD40-2 Mid-Production can also be run with steady ditch lights for trips through less populated areas, or if it suits the rules of your railroad. |
